Playgrounds are a favourite place of fun and adventure for children. They can have lots of fun sliding down the slides, climbing up the bars, sitting on the swings or simply just running around after another. Playgrounds consist of many fixed and movable structures for them to explore. While they are having fun, accidents may occur and disrupt their play time. While it is impossible achieve to zero playground, we should also never deprive our children of any outdoor play. It is therefore important to design and install safe a playground to ensure our children can have an enjoyable time.

Main Causes of Playground Accidents

  • Playground does not meet standards requirements
  • Installation differs from the original design intent
  • Presence of other obstacles not considered during the design stage
  • Play equipment are damaged or not properly maintained
  • Less then adequate of surface impact absorption in case of falls
  • Protruding edges and sharp points

With Our Inspections, You Can Achieve the Following:

  • Largely reduce the possibility of an accident
  • Increase reliability of your playground
  • Third-party review and audit of the playground
  • Assurance testing

ISRC Playground Safety Services

  • Periodic maintenance safety inspection

Playground Risk Management Plan

  • A playground Safety Policy approved by the Management is needed to establish the standard of care and emphasize the owner’s commitment to playground safety. Resources will be provided to minimize exposure to risk and make playground related safety decisions.
  • Identify and appoint a Playground Safety Coordinator to facilitate the owner’s commitment to playground safety. The Coordinator is responsible to ensure the playground is maintained and inspected according to plan and respond to the continually changing playground environments
  • Maintain the historical and updated Playground related documentations such as the manufacturer’s documents and any other inhouse documents (site plans, audit & inspection reports, incident reports, maintenance records, etc)
  • A Playground safety audit is to be conducted before the opening of a new playground or when there is a change of condition such as new equipment or surfacing. A hazard priority rating should be applied for all non-compliant conditions based on predictable results. Audit report shall record findings onsite using site plan, photographs and any other appropriate materials. Immediate action must be taken for Priority One Hazards
  • Inspections and Maintenance plan will further ensure playground safety and keep playground equipment function. New hazards may be introduced resulting from wear & tear, vandalism, litter and/or other environmental conditions. Regular and continual inspection of Playground allow the identification of playground safety issues before any children gets injured.
